Spalinger S-18

The Spalinger S18 II is a Swiss construction from the year 1937 by Jakob Spalinger and is the further development of the S18 (1935). The individual components of the prototype were produced largely by J. Spalinger himself. The Spalinger S18 was then considered a direct competition to the Grunau Baby from Germany and dominated the Swiss competitions in that time. Our reconstruction of the Spalinger is built on the scale 1: 3,4 and has a wingspan of 4,160 mm. The HQ 3.0 / 13 has been used as a profile, which guarantees a very good performance in the thermal flight. Even in aerobatics the Spalinger does not make a bad figure. With a wing area of 120 dm² and a flight weight of 7,500 g, the Spalinger has a surface load of approx. 62 g / dm². The model is equipped with a GRP hull, which is already equipped with a plywood skid. The Spalinger is delivered in antique white or yellow. The hood is already glued and locked (via the nozzle). The elevator is equipped with a Naca 0010 and is also finished in rib. The area is built in the area of the D- Box in Styro-Balsa with GRP-spar, the ribs are made of plywood. The end strip is reinforced with GRP. The Spalinger is already equipped with Schempp-Hirth flaps with double locking system! The model is unstained or stretched in white, yellow or with antique foil available. The model is suitable for advanced pilots, for the glider-driven model aircraft.
