HV (High Voltage) in modelling refers to applications in the high voltage range of usually 12s to 16s LiPo. The YGE HV regulators are characterised by their high performance and small size. Thanks to their compatibility with all common remote control systems and telemetries and the pre-programmed operating modes, they are universal and versatile. All YGE controllers have a 32-bit processor with high computing power.
6 pre-programmed operating modes for quick and easy configuration
We have created the mode programming function to pre-programme the controller to suit the application. All the necessary parameters for the operating mode are preset using the transmitter stick, and the end points of the throttle channel are also read in automatically. The following modes are available:
Mode 1: External governor
Mode 2: Governor
Mode 3: Governor Store
Mode 4: Motorised flight with brake (glider)
Mode 5: Powered flight without brake
Mode 6: Powered flight with acro brake
The mode programming is done in no time at all and the controller is completely ready for operation. For advanced programming and selection of the telemetry protocol, the USB adapter is required for connection to the PC.
Adjustable high-performance BEC (does not apply to Opto & Navy)
The YGE Aureus 135 and 205HVT have an adjustable high power BEC that meets the most demanding requirements. The voltage is adjustable from 5.5V to 8.4V and it has all the protection mechanisms. We at YGE have confidence in our BEC, which is why we do not require our customers to use a buffer battery! Nevertheless, the use of an additional safety device makes sense in many applications. We have not simply installed a diode in the output of the BEC to prevent reverse currents into the BEC, as this has the disadvantage that the receiver voltage can overshoot when the polarity of the servos is reversed quickly. In addition, the voltage drop at a diode is load-dependent, which would result in a fluctuating BEC voltage. For this reason, we have developed a circuit (ideal diode) that blocks in the normal state and protects the BEC against reverse currents. However, if the receiver voltage overshoots due to reverse currents from the servos, this circuit opens for a fraction of a second and feeds the excess energy back into the flight battery. This is not only safe and efficient, it also provides an absolutely constant BEC voltage.
Intelligent and ultra-precise current measurement
All our regulators feature high-precision current measurement and current limiting. If this value is reached, the controller naturally does not switch off. It limits the power so that no more than the set maximum current can flow. This protects the controller from overload, and in the event of a small peak, the flight can simply continue as normal where other controllers would switch off or down-regulate. This even works so well that a current-controlled flight is possible!
The following telemetry data is output by the controller: Battery voltage, current, capacity, speed, FET temperature, BEC temperature, BEC voltage, throttle pre-selection, governor opening. Our Saphir and Aureus series also output the electrolytic capacitor temperature and the BEC current. Our complete product range is compatible with all common telemetry protocols:
* Jeti
* Graupner Hott
* Mikado
* Multiplex
* Futaba
* Spectrum
* FR-SKY
* Core
* Brain 2
* Spirit
The YGE TexY is required to use telemetry with Futaba, FrSky, Spektrum and Core.
Extended setting options via PC software (separate USB adapter required)
The YGE Connect software offers the option of making advanced settings on the controller. Among other things, the desired telemetry protocol can be selected, the start-up can be adjusted as required or the BEC voltage can be changed. Logged data from the last flight and any error entries are also displayed. The controller setup can be saved or different setups can be loaded. Of course, you can also update the speed-control online to keep it up to date. You can download the YGE Connect software here.
Controller parameters can be set directly in the transmitter (Vbar Control, Jeti, Graupner, Core)
Another unique feature is parameterisation directly in the transmitter (Vbar Control, Graupner, Jeti, Core). This allows the most important parameters to be conveniently adjusted directly in the remote control. It couldn't be easier!
Mikado VBC and VBC Touch: No mode programming or telemetry protocol selection is necessary! All YGE controllers have an auto-detect function and automatically recognise the connection with VBC and NEO. You can then set all the usual parameters directly in the transmitter. The YGE telemetry works perfectly with the battery management of the Vbar Control! Take a look at our explanatory video!
Jeti ExBus: The Jeti transmitter allows you to adjust the most important controller parameters directly in the transmitter. This makes it easy to adjust individual controller settings directly on the flying field. You will find the controller settings in the JetiBox menu under 'Mx'.
Graupner HoTT: The most important ESC parameters can also be adjusted via the telemetry menu of the Graupner transmitter. Here you will find, among other things, the timing setting, the BEC voltage and the start-up can also be adjusted here.*
Powerbox CORE: All common controller parameters can also be set directly in the transmitter. This requires the use of the YGE TexY.
*The telemetry protocol must be selected once in the PC software. Separate USB adapter required.
Intelligent temperature management
Thanks to our 25 years of experience in modelling controllers, we have developed a solid and perfectly coordinated cooling concept. As a result, YGE controllers stay significantly cooler and work more efficiently.
If things do get a little hotter, all controllers have a multi-stage and intelligent temperature management system:
80°C: A warning is issued via the telemetry. An entry is made in the log
90°C: The current speed is reduced by 25%. This is noticeable in flight, but you can still land safely
100°C: The current RPM is reduced again by 25%
107°C: The controller switches off the motor for safety reasons
Super smooth and individually adjustable start-up
It should be gentle yet powerful! There are different requirements for the start-up. In a fixed-wing model it should be explosive and crisp, in a scale helicopter it should start turning in slow motion if possible. Our controllers offer the right setting for all applications! The default setting from the selected mode is sufficient for the most common applications. If something needs to be adjusted, you can choose from 3 preset start-up profiles (slow/middle/fast). There is also the Custom option, which allows you to customise the start-up to your individual requirements using a graphical start-up curve. You can also choose between a gentle sinusoidal start-up and a fast block start-up for the start-up behaviour from the idle state. For scale helicopters, the acceleration time can also be set to >60 seconds. The reaction speed to changes in the throttle input (switching between idles) can of course be set separately.
Three different governor modes
The YGE Governor offers exactly what makes a perfect governor. On the one hand, it should compensate for the decreasing battery voltage during the flight so that you have the same rotor head speed throughout the entire flight, and on the other hand, it should compensate for speed drops due to load peaks. Thanks to our many years of experience in modelling, we have developed an optimum basic setting that offers the perfect flight result for all common setups without having to learn or adjust anything. Of course, all governors also offer the Governor Store mode invented by us, in which a reference speed is read in once and stored permanently. This means that no matter how good or bad the different batteries used are, the governor always achieves exactly the same desired speed. For use with an external speed controller, e.g. Vstabi Governor, all YGE controllers also offer a speed output.
Adjustable EMK brake and acro brake
In mode 4 (powered flight with brake), the throttle travel is automatically adjusted for brake use and the brake is activated. The brake hardness can be fine-tuned in the YGE Connect software. In mode 6, the adjustable acro brake (F3A) is activated. You can find a video explaining the F3A brake here.
Bailout
Autorotation is not just a 3D figure that thrills spectators during show flights. It is also important to be able to autorotate in emergency situations, so it is all the more important to practise this occasionally. The bailout function plays an important role here, because if an autorotation exercise does not go as planned, you can switch the motor back on and the controller will quickly return the throttle to the set speed without reacting with a soft start.
Online update capability
So that you are always up to date and can use new features in the future, you can update the speed controller online via the USB adapter on the PC. For copy protection reasons, each controller has its own serial number and each update is generated individually for a serial number. Take a look at our explanatory video!
