It was a revolution when the Luscombe Model 8, later called the Luscombe Silvaire, was launched on the two-seater light aircraft market in 1937, because the aircraft had a fuselage with a self-supporting metal outer skin and was therefore far ahead of its time. The design was perfected in 1946 with a new wing with a self-supporting metal outer skin. Another special feature was that the boxer engine was completely covered. Other manufacturers later followed these technical innovations specified by the Luscombe Aircraft Corporation. The design of our model was strongly inspired by the original. In particular, the self-supporting outer skin made of very light but stable balsa wood, which is reinforced where forces are applied, gives the fuselage, tail unit and wing halves a high surface quality and, of course, stability. The wing halves are mounted in the fuselage using lightweight, high-strength carbon fibre rods, making the model easy to transport despite its impressive dimensions. The components are interlocked in such a way that construction errors can be practically ruled out. With the help of the familiar aero-naut style building instructions with 3D step-by-step drawings, building success will be achieved very quickly, especially in joint building projects with youth groups. Our designer also paid particular attention to good and safe flight characteristics thanks to an airfoil specially modified for our Luscombe Silvaire. As the original was also used as a school aeroplane, our model is also very well suited for school operations and youth work. The model is ideally suited as a trainer, but its semi-scale construction clearly sets it apart from classic trainer models. Of course, experts will also enjoy the moment when they let their individual aero-naut Luscombe Silvaire soar a few metres above the field. As there are around 2,800 originals worldwide and many of them in great colour designs, our Luscombe Silvaire is also very suitable as a first semi-scale model. The creation of a clean and, above all, customised finish using iron-on film will also be very easy for beginners thanks to the load-bearing outer skin of all assemblies. All assemblies are covered with iron-on foil before final assembly and as there are no complicated moulds and open rib fields, the beginner can easily create his own special model. Multi-coloured designs are very easy to create. Experts may well consider a GRP finish. For the drive, the designer has provided a motor with approx. 300-350 watts, which, with 3-4S LiPo with 3,000 mAh and an aero-naut CAMcarbon Light-Prop 10×6″ to 11×5″, ensures enormous take-off power and very efficient and economical half-throttle performance. The stable and true-to-form construction also allows aerobatics and thanks to the good control effect across all axes, the model can be flown with precision. The very low minimum speed can be reduced even further if the ailerons are configured as flaperons on the transmitter side, i.e. the ailerons can also be lowered as landing flaps. The model kit contains: All wooden parts required for construction, precision laser-cut, cut spars, curved undercarriage with tyres, linkage parts, wing struts, Bowden cables, detailed building instructions with 3D construction stage drawings.
