The F-35 Lightning is a so-called Joint Strike Fighter which, unlike previous fighter jet types, is used by both the Air Force and the Navy and Marine Corps. The F-35 is due to enter service in 2012. It will replace several very different combat aircraft such as the F-16 and F/A-18 multi-role aircraft, the A-10 Thunderbolt ground attack aircraft, the AV-8B Harrier II vertical take-off aircraft and the F-111. The F-35 will be produced in different versions to cater for all mission areas.
The model is in no way inferior to the original! The model's moulded parts are made of HypoDur® material and come ready-painted from the kit. Even the tiniest details such as bumpers, rivets and maintenance hatches are lovingly reproduced on the parts and give the F-35 a very realistic look. The model is almost indistinguishable from the original in the air thanks to the absolutely prototypical moulding!

The model is powered by a powerful impeller unit. The brushless motor sits streamlined in the unit and is optimally cooled. The impeller unit is integrated in the rear of the model. The impeller is easily accessible via a cover on the underside of the fuselage.

There are two large air inlets on the sides of the fuselage through which the impeller can draw in sufficient air. The brushless motor is controlled via a special brushless controller, which is already included with the model. The impeller unit is designed for 4s LiPo batteries with 14.8V. This gives the F-35 a breathtaking performance potential in the air.

The model is controlled via the elevator and ailerons. The control surfaces are controlled via 4 micro servos, which are already installed in the model. A further 4 micro servos are fitted in the retractable undercarriage and the steerable nose gear. The F-35 Lightning therefore has a total of 8 micro servos.

There is a removable cover behind the canopy which allows the drive battery to be changed easily. The receiver is also mounted under this hatch in the model. The speed controller is located in the rear next to the propeller unit.

The model can be launched either from a hard runway, a short mown grass runway or with a powerful throw from the hand. The robust retractable undercarriage enables precise taxiing on the runway thanks to the articulated nose landing gear.

Once in the air, the F-35 impresses with its silhouette that is almost indistinguishable from the original. The model responds in typical jet fashion to all control commands. The F-35 performs all manoeuvres cleanly and fascinates pilots and spectators alike with its performance. For the landing approach, the model is flown towards the runway with approx. 30% power before the power is completely reduced over the runway and the elevator is fully pulled.
