The Katana (=Samurai sword) is a prime example of a rational further development of a successful aircraft type, the Super Dimona, which was adapted to market requirements. This light-engined aircraft was impressive in its beauty and performance. The prototype flew for the first time on 16.03.1991, fuselage and tailplane still from Super Dimona HK 36R (Rotax engine). The first DV 20 from the series production then flew in December 1992. The aircraft is of course fully built in GRP fibre composite construction - with all the advantages of this technology. Lower airframe weight, excellent aerodynamics and the resulting flight performance made it unusually popular, also on the North American market.

Flying the Katana is no problem at all. It can be flown quite fast, but is inherently stable and absolutely uncritical. It is controlled by elevator, rudder and aileron. Aileron control is via two servos in the wing halves (micro), so that differentiation can be precisely programmed by the transmitter. The most beautiful thing is to fly up to 20m altitude, half throttle, so that you can enjoy the beauty of the aircraft - accompanied by the discreet sound of the gearbox.

Simple aerobatics are possible, but Katana is more of a cruising machine!

The kit is largely prefabricated, only the fuselage must be completed by installing wooden parts. Cockpit - frame complements a dashboard and interior made of ABS, plus an elegant canopy made of transparent plastic. The main landing gear is in two parts made of GRP, wheel fairings of ABS. Access for battery replacement and remote control is via the removable canopy with cockpit.
