Item number: KAV02.8084RTF
EAN: 8596450048911
Practically finished model of a school motor glider with a wingspan of 1400 mm made of the almost indestructible extruded polyolefin foam (EPO) with a brushless motor, 20A controller and 4 servos. Controlled are rudder, elevator, aileron and motor speed. Complete 2.4GHz RC set with an 8-channel T8FB transmitter, receiver, 3S LiPo battery and charger.
The BETA 1400 model under the KAVAN brand externally retains the features of the original BETA 1400 model, but it is a completely new model with slightly different dimensions, a new wing profile, brushless motor with a folding propeller and a much more sophisticated design. New moulds and advances in foam technology ensure that all parts are much finer and more precise. The BETA 1400 model - a reliable and powerful training and practice powered glider - is ideal for novice pilots, whom it takes from learning to fly to acrobatic figures and thermal soaring. It is equally pleasing to hobby pilots, for whom it offers a space-saving and easily transportable model for great, relaxed model flying.
BETA 1400 is built from the highly resistant, extruded polyolefin foam EPO and is powered by a brushless motor. Thanks to the motor placed on the pylon behind the wing, the model resists rough handling very well and can also withstand stick landings, which would cause damage to the propeller in classic models with the motor in the nose of the fuselage.
The brushless motor (with outrunner, C2814-1400) is mounted on the fuselage, on the pylon behind the wing with a folding propeller. The fuselage, made of EPO foam with CFRP longitudinal reinforcements, houses the KAVAN R-20B regulator, GO-09 rudder and elevator servos. The canopy is removable with magnetic catches. The two-piece wing is also made of EPO foam. The ailerons are controlled by 2 servos, which are hinged in the wing by short direct wire linkages. The wing halves are joined with a CFRP tube connector and secured with a screw on the underside of the wing. The tailplanes in the classic arrangement are also made of EPO foam and are controlled by Bowden cables. The engine is cooled by the airstream flowing through the pylon and engine ports.
Completion involves only gluing tail surfaces (with a medium liquid superglue), attaching the wing halves, connecting the receiver and the drive battery. Ailerons, rudder, elevator and engine speed are controlled.
The model is controlled by the 8-channel KAVAN/RadioLink T8FB BT 2.4GHz FHSS transmitter (system with frequency hopping) with cross sticks in mode 1 (throttle right), trims and reverse switches for all channels. You can use the transmitter straight out of the box as a classic "non-computer" transmitter with trims and mechanical reverse switches for the aileron, elevator, throttle and rudder channels. After connecting to the PC or to the smartphone application with the Android or iOS operating system, you can then programme servo reversals, use dual rate deflections, expo of deflections and other smart functions. For the transmitter power supply you need 4 AA alkaline battery mignon cells or rechargeable batteries (not included in the RC set).
BETA 1400 is available with the LiPo battery 11.1 V 1600 mAh. The 7x6" folding propeller fits this. The model can handle 3-cell packs up to approx. 2200 mAh without any problems.
BETA 1400 is suitable for flying novices - we always recommend - to make the first starts under the supervision of an experienced pilot to enjoy a relaxing time flying the model. The flight characteristics are pleasant. The model introduces you to control around all three axes and to proper coordinated control with rudder, elevator and ailerons. This experience is useful when you start flying your first aerobatic model or semi/scale model. By changing the length ratios of the servo and rudder levers, you can adjust the control surface travels. The novice pilot starts with small deflections. The experienced pilot sets large deflections that also allow a bit of aerobatics - loops, barrel rolls and turns BETA manages quite well! The power of the motor is sufficient for a very steep climb. The model is not overpowered, which could cause difficulties for novice pilots. BETA 1400 can also take advantage of weak thermals and linger in the sky for quite a long time.
